Intensive Family Preservation

Program Description:

Intensive Family Preservation ( IFP ): Provides intensive in-home supportive counseling to parents, whose child was temporarily removed from th ehome by DCF but has been returned with the need for short-term family support. The Intensive Family Preservation program (IFP) promotes the safety and well-being of children and their families in the Greater Bridgeport area by helping to prevent out-of-home placement of children who have been determined by DCF to be at imminent risk of removal from their home, relative caregiver and/or foster home, due to abuse, neglect or other reasons (emotional, behavioral problems). The program also seeks to mobilize existing community support services in a coordinated manner to help strengthen and preserve families so that they can function more adequately as family unit.

Program Eligibility:

The DCF is the sole referral source for any DCF family in the Greater Bridgeport area, who has been determined to be at imminent risk of removal from home, relative caregiver and/or foster home, due to abuse, neglect or other reasons.

Accessing Services:

Services are provided during regular and Non-traditional working hours ( Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ) and via beeper during evenings and weekends.

Client Fees:

There is no fee to the families for participating in the IFP program
